About Harvey: This madcap, Pulitzer-prize winning comedy tells the story of Elwood P. Dowd, an ordinary man with an extraordinary best friend - a six-foot-three-and-one-half-inch rabbit named Harvey that only Elwood can see. When his sister decides Elwood needs psychiatric help, things get REALLY crazy.

HARVEY CHARACTER LIST

Elwood P. Dowd: A lovable eccentric and dreamer who enjoys cocktails and spending time listening to the hopes and dreams of strangers in the various cafes and taverns he frequents with his best friend Harvey, a 6 foot 1 ½" invisible white rabbit, a pooka. A gentleman in the old style, he is courtly and charming.
Dr. William Chumley: The lonely, difficult and dissatisfied head psychiatrist and administrator of Chumley's Rest, a sanitarium. Respected, but feared by his subordinates, he has many regrets.
Dr. Lyman Sanderson: Dr. Chumley's second in command, he is a young, brilliant, ambitious doctor who is devoted to science. Secretly in love with Nurse Kelly, he is also completely incapable of telling her.
Judge Omar Gafney: The Dowd family attorney and long-time friend. He knows all about Elwood and Harvey, and it is to him that Veta turns when she decides to commit Elwood.
Duane Wilson: Completely devoted to Dr. Chumley, he is the strong-armed orderly at Chumley's Rest. Cynical, vulgar and crude, he is softened only by his infatuation upon meeting Myrtle May.
E. J. Lofgren: A cab driver who regularly drives the route to and from Chumley's Rest. A keen observer of humanity, he has seen it all.
Veta L. Simmons: Elwood's high-strung widowed sister and mother to Myrtle Mae. She is painfully concerned about her social position, and anxiously determined to find a suitable husband for her awkward daughter. She is terrified that her eccentric brother will ruin all, and is torn between blaming Elwood and Harvey for her precarious situation.
Myrtle Mae Simmons: Daughter of Veta and niece of Elwood. She is shy and socially awkward, but would like nothing better than to enter society and find a suitable young man to marry. Not particularly attractive, vivacious or charming, she has not had any suitors, but blames her plight on her uncle, Elwood.
Ethel Chauvenet: A society matron and long time friend of the Dowd family. She is very aware of her social position. She used to be very fond of Elwood, and is unaware of his present relationship with a pooka.
Ruth Kelly: Young, attractive and spunky, she is a caring and compassionate nurse at Chumley's Rest. She is in love with Dr. Sanderson, and believes it is completely unrequited. She is charmed by Elwood's courtly, gentle manners and chivalry.
Betty Chumley: Longsuffering wife of Dr. Chumley. She is used to him breaking social engagements at the last moment.
Miss Johnson: Maid at the Dowd family home.
